The Ballarat Begonia Festival returns over the Labour Day long weekend, Saturday 8 to Monday 1 March 2025.

Ballarat Farmers Market

As early as the 1890’s the Ballarat Botanical Gardens has featured a collection of tuberous begonias. Tubers were imported from the famous English nursery Blackmore and Langdon, now a fourth-generation family nursery, in 1901 entering our collection via the onsite nursery quarantine facility. 

Origins

The 2024 program welcomes new events and performances set to bring wonder and awe to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

The Ballarat Botanical Gardens will play host to a spectacular floral display of hundreds of rare begonias at the Robert Clarke Conservatory. Colorful installations will fill the garden with the event&#8217;s main stage and floral clock returning. Alongside vibrant floral displays, festival-goers can also expect markets, live music, family activities, and roving entertainment.
